Hévíz provides lots of cultural programs and leisure activities for the visitors. The guests are offered an ample choice of concerts, exhibitions, yearly organised festivals, theatre performances and other various programs. As seasons change, shows also this small town a new visage time after time. Its exciting programs provide always something new and interesting that is worth to see and hear coming to Hévíz again: the Whit Festival in June, the rightly famous Wine Festival in August, the Harvest of Egregy in September, literary events and concerts, dance festivals or operetta nights and others. Special art groups such as the old-music ensemble Musica Antiqua or the Dance Studio of Hévíz flourish in this nice town as well.
The direct environment of Hévíz offers a huge range of leisure activities for the tourists. As a part of the Balaton Highland National Park and together with the Keszthely mountains, its unique natural values, the protected flora and fauna of the Small Balaton with the rich stock of birds of this area are considered as a nature reserve area already from the 1920’s. The Festetics Castle in Keszthely and the fortress of Sümeg attract visitors with their architectural and culture-historical curiosities and specific atmosphere. These facilities are enriched by the year-round-program of the Balaton Congress Centre and Theatre focussed on the interests of dance and theatre lovers.

Keszthely
Laying 5 miles from Hévíz, Keszthely is the most important cultural centre of the region.You can adore the tranquil townscape and Lake Balaton up from the Keszthely Mountains, bath in the lake in the summer or discover museums.Here can be found the Festetics Castle: this Baroque building is one of the most beautiful castles of the country. The most valuable room is the library completed between 1799 and 1801, with more than 86,000 books and original furniture.
Zalaszántó
The Buddhist Sanctum was built in 1992 by the initiation of a South-Korean, Tibetan, Swiss and Austrian Buddhist foundation. The stupa is a unique building in Hungary. It is also the biggest stupa in Europe.
Sümeg
Sümeg castle is the largest castle-ruin in Balaton-Uplands, built over an elevation of 886 feet.
Medieval jousts wait for the guests in the summer.
Szigliget
Szigliget is located in the neighbourhood of Badacsony. Szigliget is one of the most beautiful areas of Balaton. It used to be an island therefore its only accessibility was boat or ship.
Fig is mellowed by the sunshine in the curves of the peninsula, the best Szigliget wine bears on the slants.
